Goodbye my friend

Goodbye my friend it's hard not to cry
But the contentment with Allah's decree we can't deny
Too soon is only for our earthly desire
Your life's fulfilment is what we admire
Strange how we met before you tied the knot
Your friendship in some way found in my heart a spot
Not always close in person but not distant in thought
Many things spoken and unspoken me you taught
And even now in death your fate is a reminder
Of your gentle character and no one kinder
As people gathered to pray and pay their respects
For sure it's prayers our Lord never rejects
Yes, we met at a time you took a bride
Eventually you took my choice of car as a ride
But your studious nature made you fairly well-read
And follow your example I can't tread
But in your children you leave behind those with love
For a father who treated everybody with kid glove
A wife so proud of having been your wife
For many came too soon the end of your life.
Farewell my friend as you journey to a world beyond
May Allah grant that we meet in paradise at the pond.

I will miss you

I dedicate the poem below to a dear friend, Faadiel Nordien (1954 - 2014). One only truly appreciates a person when they are no longer there. But, allow me to say a few words which is a dedication to him and I say this with all love and respect.
I pray that Almighty Allah showers him with His mercy and grant him a lofty place in Paradise - Aameen

I will miss you

People celebrate anniversaries in so many different ways
Today we celebrate the anniversary of our friendship
Along the years you taught me much so I sing your praise
Simple, down to earth, on your shoulder was never a chip

But one quickly learns about you, the prankster and joker
Quick-witted and subtle you were in your humour
Causing red faces while straight-faced you were as if a game of poker
Many a time most were caught while likely in a stupor

You taught me without fear of me eclipsing you in ambition
Rather you were to most a mentor and a friend
Upon reflection, no doubt you quietly bore pain and rejection
This clearly did not stop you from your normal trend

So many years have passed since we first did meet
And our Lord knows best why He chose this day
That our friendship on this earth must be complete
You have left for greener pastures while we do stay

Never a goodbye to a friend but rather farewell, so long
I have not met a person but from him a lesson I did draw
Perhaps about you I should write a book of lessons so strong
I remember the day we met but now in this world I will see you no more

Eid Message

All praise and thanks are due to Almighty Allah for having blessed us with this beautiful month of Ramadan and now its Eid and a day of celebration.

O Allah, We have fasted on your command , We have given charity, prayed our taraweeh, recited Quran and ended the month with our Zakat-ul-fitr.
O Allah, We have shunned our physical needs and increased our spiritual needs. We have shunned our personal needs and have shared of ourselves and our wealth willingly with our Muslim brothers and sisters.
We have been aware of what we utter, glorifying you, O Allah, forsaking lies, gossip and lewd talk.

O Allah, We have been aware to mend our ways and we have stretched our hands of reconciliation and love to our Muslim brothers and  sisters.

May we tread the days ahead with revitalised faith and may the blessings of this holy month serve as a comfort in our days of sorrow and despair.

We pray for our deceased that the Almighty place noor in their quboor.

We pray for our parents, our brothers, our sisters, our wives and our children that the Almighty protect them and place between us His concept of mahabbah.

We pray for those who are ill at home or in hospitals.

We pray for those who are languishing in prison for serving humanity.

We pray for our leaders and those placed to rule over us, and put their concept of truth and justice in your hands.

We pray for the return of Masjid-ul-Aqsa to the Muslims.

We pray for the people of Gaza who are undergoing tremendous difficulty at the hands of the enemy of Allah. Their pain is our pain and we pray that You, O Allah, o All-Powerful Lord, that you grant them and us victory and that the enemy is not only defeated, but destroyed.

We pray too for the Mujahideen and the downtrodden wherever they may be.

O Allah, we answered your call to the best of our ability, Please O Our Lord, hear and accept our call. - Aameen

Eid Mubarak – Eid sa’eed wa antum bi khair

May this indeed be a joyous Eid but not forgetting those suffering across the globe especially Gaza.

Quotable Quotes

In the name of Allah, The All-Merciful, the Especially Merciful

An Atheist is like an investor who only has downside risk on his investment, i.e. his investment is exposed only to losses & nothing to gain

A believer is like an investor who continually builds on his portfolio(of good deeds)& invests in others while it will naturally benefit him

It is great that u have a good retirement plan. Retirement, only a few years, will so not be forever BUT the life AFTER will be - plan well

How do you feed your body but not your soul .. it is like washing your clothes and not yourself ... mmmm .... does the exterior only count?

We often spend as if we are deserving of our provision/sustenance. Little thanks do we give to the Sustainer, Our Creator, Allaah.

If your kids are rude, bullying, vulgar, lie, and misbehave - YOU are to blame. And if people avoid you to protect their kids its only fair – Yahya Adel Ibrahim

The Prophet sala Allahu alihi wasSalaam said "Verily, a man teaching his child manners is better than giving one bushel of grain in alms."

Rather than making business your life.. make life you business and perhaps you will appreciate your earnings more

In anything, one should have a positive approach rather than adopting the negative by finding fault with others & looking to "destroy" them

Make a concerted to be positive today and every day. Make the decisions that will benefit you and fear not the whims and fancies of others

Contentment & apathy are not equal. Is it not odd that people claim contentment in their jobs yet blame the bosses for their own problems

We read biographies of important people to learn from them & then FOLLOW their way. The BEST biography is that of Muhammad bin Abdullah PBUH

Just as the body grows lethargic without exercise, so too does the mind grow dull without reflection and thought. – Yasir Qadhi

Atheism

In the name of Allah, Most Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Can anyone prove there is no God? On what basis does anyone say there is no God? What is life all about if there is no God? Are there then really morals and values if there is no God? Who made up these values and morals by which we live?
Is the degradation of the value system because people are denying the existence of God?
Are people too lazy, perhaps too selfish, too distracted to accept God's rights over us?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atheism  - seems that nobody is really sure ... but do they not believe in anything???
Atheism is a cop-out. God has challenged these so-called atheists to prove their theories, but rather all they do is deny.
Can any atheist say that they absolutely never use a word that may perhaps depict God or a higher being?
God is in no need to prove anything - He does as He will - but He has given us enough evidence to believe and for those who believe for them to further strengthen their faith
It is difficult to argue with an atheist since they have little idea what they are supposed to believing.
Every person is born pure - yet their parents/guardians have an influence in their formative years. But it is this purity with which we are all born that recognises our Creator except that through our own misdeeds (which results in a cloud over our thinking and our hearts) we seldom recognise the Truth and our Creator's rights over us.
The question is simply: If those who don’t believe in God, i.e. atheists, are wrong and by extension those who believe in an unseen creator, God, and therefore also believe in a  paradise, if those people are right – will you not regret missing out on the real life (in the hereafter)?
On the converse, assuming the atheist is right and there no God, well then we both equal when we die. We are just dead – right?
The question therefore remains – are you so absolutely sure you are so right that you will risk the big prize? You are comfortable playing “Russian roulette” and you do not perspire one bit. You have insurance on your car and house and you even life assurance (for the benefit of others) – but you refuse real insurance?
For the atheist, it is a cop out that they refuse to think about it and are irritated by those who remind them.
Believe it - there is a God!

Suicide or Honour

In the name of Allaah, Most Gracious, most Merciful

Suicide - Can you imagine the trauma a family goes though when someone takes his/her own life. To those who suffer depression or for whatever reason contemplates suicide - remember one thing only - that

you are from God Almighty and to Him you will return.

Live by that and always know that He knows better than you - He, God Almighty, created you and to Him you will return. If he wanted you to kill yourself then suicide would have been an honourable thing. It is only honourable to place your trust firmly in Him, your Lord and Creator, and to take on your challenges. No man/woman is given more that they can bear, but there are no shortcuts, your limits will be tested.

This life is always temporary and the real life is yet to come. No test is easy except for those who curry favour with the examiner in this case - and your Lord God loves that you do that and He will pless you for doing your best to please Him.

Life in this world is like the blink of an eye - stay the course, and be close to Him who will reward you for that little bit of patience - there is a Garden of Bliss!
