The greatest father

I had a dream, I had a dream to be a great father
But in truth it takes more than one person to be that father
For without offspring that was never a dream to be true
Blessed indeed am I that I have a son like you

If what you have achieved was mostly to please me
Understand in your life it is always between you and He
Always a parent is anxious for his child that he may fall
Fearing to get up and not battling to win the ball

How you straightened my back since I too must meet expectations
Of a child who since young was great with his recitations
He loved always to kick a ball and loving the playground to be the field
While as a dad I think only that I must from the dangers you shield

I realised and understand that your life and era is a time beyond us
Watching you grow you may not have understood the fuss
It's not about the detail but always about the goal
For I may not live to see it all as from my body departs my soul

But you are smart and wisdom will come with time
Life is more than a poem that has some rhyme
It is to love and be loved and be the greatest son
For without him no father can be great when all is said and done

Ah the pride when a father sees his child facing the world with strength
Overcoming obstacles and with perseverance triumphs at length
The world's greatest father is he who has the greatest son
If I had to do it all over I'll will have you replaced by none.

As the clock ticks by, rush not into another year
Enjoy your youth and approach the future with no fear
Arm yourself with conviction, faith and determination
Stay true for this dad is for you full of admiration

The Right to Success

The sign said turn right and you turned left
A setback and losses from it will make it like theft
It is true that sometimes left is right
Confused you ask whether I'm alright

It is always about knowing your bearings
Planned to the point you avoid red herrings
Life is but a road on which we travel
Avoid danger lest it causes things to unravel

But risks we must take for it's not about fear
Although we tread carefully with what we hold dear
Never you think there's not a message in this
For dismissing life's lessons you end in an abyss

So in a nutshell I must advise you on this matter
Keep your eye on the road avoiding idle chatter
Plan a path to success and consider not to fail
For always think of the wind when you do sail

So going from left to right is about direction
But doing right is to ensure your plan gets traction
Risky it may seem when opening a door or two
Knowledge brings more certainty in what you do

With conviction we are positive we stay strong
Results will reveal itself it won't take long
Patience though for you place constraints on time
We can keep shifting but everything has its paradigm

Sometimes

Sometimes life has a way to teach one even one lesson
Sometimes it may be that it takes a lifetime before realisation

Sometimes it seems that everyone saps the life out of you
Sometimes with failure after failure you know not what to do

Sometimes you think that your contribution maybe helpful
Sometimes everyone expects you only to be dutiful

Sometimes you show your frustration at mere rejection
Sometimes you regret your action upon reflection

Sometimes you struggle to figure what role to play
Sometimes you may want to but then it's better nothing you say

Sometimes you think people's acceptance of you is respect
Sometimes you wonder if the opposite means to reject

Sometimes you sit and wonder at the confusion of it all
Sometimes you consider why your eyes out you do bawl

Sometimes it is merely that you don't know the “when”
Sometimes one must say this feeling of rejection never again

Sometimes we must be patient for we know not the reason
Sometimes it is that we were placed here for others’ repletion

Sometimes it is best that we quietly carry on with life
Sometimes one just has to do a little more to avoid strife

Sometimes with these many tests we are bombarded
Sometimes we learn and with time we are no longer red-carded

Sometimes we must take time to learn our role in life
Sometimes it's in silence we do look forward to the afterlife

Sometimes our test in life is more about our patience
Sometimes  it's sobering to know you will not meet other's expectations

Sometimes it's necessary to continue the best that you can be
Sometimes being agreeable to others will set you free
