Dear Truth

Dear Truth,
I notice how everyone keenly your friendship does claim
As if you ought not run through every vein
They realise not that you like blood do flow
Stories, their words are new which you already know
Thought out with precision misleading the one who hears
Enough to bring every honest person to absolute tears
Reminded I am always for patience with their lies
Like hot air their words to the sky rise
All that remains is the one friend called truth
Refreshing as always as if it's our eternal youth
Embracing you as you are part of my being
Your importance has made me wealthier than a king

Sometimes

Sometimes life has a way to teach one even one lesson
Sometimes it may be that it takes a lifetime before realisation
Sometimes it seems that everyone saps the life out of you
Sometimes with failure after failure you know not what to do
Sometimes you think that your contribution maybe helpful
Sometimes everyone expects you only to be dutiful
Sometimes you show your frustration at mere rejection
Sometimes you regret your action upon reflection
Sometimes you struggle to figure what role to play
Sometimes you may want to but then it's better nothing you say
Sometimes you think people's acceptance of you is respect
Sometimes you wonder if the opposite means to reject
Sometimes you sit and wonder at the confusion of it all
Sometimes you consider why your eyes out you do bawl
Sometimes it is merely that you don't know the “when”
Sometimes one must say this feeling of rejection never again
Sometimes we must be patient for we know not the reason
Sometimes it is that we were placed here for others’ repletion
Sometimes it is best that we quietly carry on with life
Sometimes one just has to do a little more to avoid strife
Sometimes with these many tests we are bombarded
Sometimes we learn and with time we are no longer red-carded
Sometimes we must take time to learn our role in life
Sometimes it's in silence we do look forward to the afterlife
Sometimes our test in life is more about our patience
Sometimes  it's sobering to know you will not meet other's expectations
Sometimes it's necessary to continue the best that you can be
Sometimes being agreeable to others will set you free

Goodbye my friend

Goodbye my friend it's hard not to cry
But the contentment with Allah's decree we can't deny
Too soon is only for our earthly desire
Your life's fulfilment is what we admire
Strange how we met before you tied the knot
Your friendship in some way found in my heart a spot
Not always close in person but not distant in thought
Many things spoken and unspoken me you taught
And even now in death your fate is a reminder
Of your gentle character and no one kinder
As people gathered to pray and pay their respects
For sure it's prayers our Lord never rejects
Yes, we met at a time you took a bride
Eventually you took my choice of car as a ride
But your studious nature made you fairly well-read
And follow your example I can't tread
But in your children you leave behind those with love
For a father who treated everybody with kid glove
A wife so proud of having been your wife
For many came too soon the end of your life.
Farewell my friend as you journey to a world beyond
May Allah grant that we meet in paradise at the pond.

Eternal Love

Eternal Love

In true relationships a man and a woman do not a couple make
Except that they share a bond that they will not easily forsake
With the utmost sincerity they pledge their eternal love to each other
With ups and downs, but little do life's obstacles their relationship do bother

Something you will notice is that both are doing their best to see the other happy
Tiredness and even some illness will make neither one to the other snappy
We all know that no one is perfect and it is the faults we must overlook
Except our own we address that one day we can happily say we forsook

So old we grow together remembering especially every good time
The graciousness with which we live will make even our waddle then so sublime
So when we said our vows it certainly did not include "till death do us part"
Because in paradise we will meet and that I believe with all my heart

I will miss you

I dedicate the poem below to a dear friend, Faadiel Nordien (1954 - 2014). One only truly appreciates a person when they are no longer there. But, allow me to say a few words which is a dedication to him and I say this with all love and respect.
I pray that Almighty Allah showers him with His mercy and grant him a lofty place in Paradise - Aameen

I will miss you

People celebrate anniversaries in so many different ways
Today we celebrate the anniversary of our friendship
Along the years you taught me much so I sing your praise
Simple, down to earth, on your shoulder was never a chip

But one quickly learns about you, the prankster and joker
Quick-witted and subtle you were in your humour
Causing red faces while straight-faced you were as if a game of poker
Many a time most were caught while likely in a stupor

You taught me without fear of me eclipsing you in ambition
Rather you were to most a mentor and a friend
Upon reflection, no doubt you quietly bore pain and rejection
This clearly did not stop you from your normal trend

So many years have passed since we first did meet
And our Lord knows best why He chose this day
That our friendship on this earth must be complete
You have left for greener pastures while we do stay

Never a goodbye to a friend but rather farewell, so long
I have not met a person but from him a lesson I did draw
Perhaps about you I should write a book of lessons so strong
I remember the day we met but now in this world I will see you no more

Happiness

I had the world at my feet and the happiness seemed complete
But this life is but a blink of an eye and everything seems like deceit
If strife and struggle do better equip us for the ultimate joy
Then I will surely give everything including that most expensive toy

But we are beguiled by this world not realising that life is very short
Building huge mansions and having much money true happiness cannot be bought
It is the knowledge that our sustenance and provision is from our Lord
He gives whom He wills but truly the next life is the ultimate reward

We place our trust firmly in His hands as He is the Supreme
Fancy cars and holidays is pretty much we all believe make a dream
Our best endeavours are not always good enough so we may fail
If only we knew our dependence on His goodwill will out of difficulty us bail

What we see and hear develops our different dreams and aspiration
We feel pain for our lack and for others we have so much admiration
We long to be their equals and taste of what we so much long for
But we see in our current situation merely a closed door

The pain sets in as all around seem happy and relaxed
My body is already numb and even the little I have is taxed
I so much wanted happiness but sadness and regret has overtaken me
The reality to this all I try to hide so that none can see

Eid Message

All praise and thanks are due to Almighty Allah for having blessed us with this beautiful month of Ramadan and now its Eid and a day of celebration.

O Allah, We have fasted on your command , We have given charity, prayed our taraweeh, recited Quran and ended the month with our Zakat-ul-fitr.
O Allah, We have shunned our physical needs and increased our spiritual needs. We have shunned our personal needs and have shared of ourselves and our wealth willingly with our Muslim brothers and sisters.
We have been aware of what we utter, glorifying you, O Allah, forsaking lies, gossip and lewd talk.

O Allah, We have been aware to mend our ways and we have stretched our hands of reconciliation and love to our Muslim brothers and  sisters.

May we tread the days ahead with revitalised faith and may the blessings of this holy month serve as a comfort in our days of sorrow and despair.

We pray for our deceased that the Almighty place noor in their quboor.

We pray for our parents, our brothers, our sisters, our wives and our children that the Almighty protect them and place between us His concept of mahabbah.

We pray for those who are ill at home or in hospitals.

We pray for those who are languishing in prison for serving humanity.

We pray for our leaders and those placed to rule over us, and put their concept of truth and justice in your hands.

We pray for the return of Masjid-ul-Aqsa to the Muslims.

We pray for the people of Gaza who are undergoing tremendous difficulty at the hands of the enemy of Allah. Their pain is our pain and we pray that You, O Allah, o All-Powerful Lord, that you grant them and us victory and that the enemy is not only defeated, but destroyed.

We pray too for the Mujahideen and the downtrodden wherever they may be.

O Allah, we answered your call to the best of our ability, Please O Our Lord, hear and accept our call. - Aameen

Eid Mubarak – Eid sa’eed wa antum bi khair

May this indeed be a joyous Eid but not forgetting those suffering across the globe especially Gaza.
